An account of temporary holding pen under a bridge in El Paso.
The United States is holding hundreds of asylum-seeking immigrants for days at a time in an outdoor pen under an El Paso bridge. Some migrants, including young children, have been held there for up to four days and have been forced to sleep on gravel.
This particular holding pen didn’t last long before it was disbanded. Apparently, the optics weren’t good. There is some discussion as well on whether it was strictly necessary or done in part for the optics.
